(pmastello, ^^ wonderful!)

Spent the last couple days hitting a couple kid faves (Children's museum yesterday, Science Museum today.) Both reside in downtown St. Paul - the other twin city. Of course I took the opportunity to snap out the window of my moving car on the way there (a favorite activity )

Yes,

same question. Would you recommend any easy-to-understand-and-follow turorial on how to blend several exposures into one final picture? Is Ligthtroom 3 sufficient to achieve such results?

Lightroom 3 has no layers but for that particular shot by mikeSF, you might be able to achieve similar effect (i.e. darkening / fixing sky exposure) to certain extend by using Lightroom's Graduated Filter. I love Lightroom's Graduated Filter tool, it has so many applications, fixing sky exposure is one of them.

Since this is DA15 Ltd's thread here's my contribution (mind the big signature ):

Agreed, use it all the time.

Here's a pp'd shot with no GF applied, and one with:

Going back through my Metadata, it seems to happen at smaller apertures, but I think that could be because I am usually shooting into the sun! This would mean there would be more diffraction, so that makes sense.

not "greater" as such, just to get the effect you need a small diameter for the apeture.
Note: f8 on a 15mm lens is a lot smaller diameter than f8 on a 200mm lens.
The number of star points depends on the number of apeture blades as the light interacts where the corners are.

I wrote something about it a few pages back: actually page 63.

The other thing is no filters on the lens and it helps to have a clear sky so probably not so good in Manila on a Tuesday afternoon ..
but if you went up to Tagaytay on a clear sunny morning you could probably frame the whole of Lake Taal in the shot and get the starbursts happening.
