any particular reason, you prefer zooms?
It started with a comparison between the Sigma 10-20 and the DA15. Last year I mounted the two lenses on my two cameras and went out shooting. The idea of zooming with your feet is inefficient and often impractical if not impossible. Moreover IMO the Sigma gives up nothing IQ wise to the DA15. In fact every time I reached for a camera I would instinctively choose the Sigma despite its size and weight. It's all about focal length and having QUICK ACCESS to the right focal length.

Thats understandable, If you are not noticing a degredation in IQ then having a focal range is well worth it.. maybe even at the cost of slight IQ.

Nice interview, and nice shots. I don't think I ever registered that you shoot Nikon too.

I would in theory go for the 10-20 or the 12-24 but at the end of the day its more about size+weight, plus I kind of like the limitations forced on you by a prime, I find it increases my creativity.

I know though that those two wide zooms are amazing pieces of gear but IQ aside what about the weight/size difference? I assume those wide zooms are at least the size of my 17-50 likely a nice bit larger.

@Jay

congrats

+1 on the well deserved

Very nice, Jay, congratulations! Did you select which photos they would feature or did they? The mighty 15 seems very well represented

Likewise. I need to keep the weight down, and I can't be carting a tripod or monopod with me all the time, so the 15 won out, in the end. Now that I also have a K5 its even more important. I'd love to have one of those zooms, but...

K5 + DA 15 + Indoors = amazing flexibility.
