Hah, thanks

Just getting some starburst out of my system...
Really like all 3 of these. Where was #2 taken? I live near DC, but don't recognize this. BTW, gotta love Flicker. In looking at the EXIF on the Jefferson Memorial (great starburst!), it shows the picture was taken at 7:45pm on 14 May, but was posted to Flicker at 5:45am on 14 May. Must be nice to be able to post 14 hours before taking the shot. Better yet, the EXIF data for the Wahington Monument shows it was posted the day before it was taken.

Can you get good subject isolation with a max of f/4? I'm totally envying my girlfriend's 5D and 35mm L F1.4.

Thanks! #2 was taken just outside the Air and Space museum in the mall. Don't trust the date, seems as though the exif got stripped and with my timezone being different to the US one that's probably how it looks mixed up. I took the photo 2 weeks ago.

No, the DA15 won't give you much subject isolation at all, that's not what this lens is about. If you want wide and fast the FF is the ticket. The widest lens I have that will give subject isoloation is the FA 31mm, but on APS-C that is a normal lens.

The 5D and 35mm L f1.4 would be an awesome kit. That would be like a 23mm on APS-C, so the closest we have is the DA 21mm f3.2 which is like f4.8 on FF, that's 3 and a 1/2 stops different from the canon 35L. Keep in mind that lens is a $1,500 dollar lens.

If you want a cheaper alternative with great image isolation, get a APS-C camera with a sigma 30 1.4..... it's has a FOV of a 45mm/48mm(canon) in FF and a DOF of a F2.1.

Depends on how close you get, the DA 15 has a pretty good near limit, so flowers and small objects would give some oof though not the "FF 1,4" you are refering to.

Normal/close distance at f4 looks like this.

thanks, I was walking around Adelaide and I noticed this Iron braced door..it was a dreary overcast day so I took a photo of this doorway and after 5 minutes in CS5, I turned it into something interesting. The original photograph looks about as interesting as a wet cabbage..
