Seem to be in a bit of a B&W rut lately
As far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as a B&W rut. B&W is classic, and therefore is like a river that will forever flow and in which one might occasionally get caught in the current more than it is like a rut in which to get stuck.

I got this lens about a month ago, and I have to admit that I haven't taken to it quite as much as I expected to. I'm still trying to decide whether to keep it. I know it's a great lens just based on the incredible images in this thread alone. But I'm not sure it fits my type of shooting enough to justify the money. I'll probably give it at least until my vacation in June when I'll have a chance to shoot more landscapes with it.

Either way, here's a shot from this weekend which I thought turned out okay. The starburst is from the sun reflecting off of a window behind the tree.

Hey math guy! I know what you mean; it took me several months to really start using the DA15 properly. I despaired and it would float unused in my camera bag for long stretches of time, but then I would visit this thread and go out with it again. Now I seem to use it more than any other lens, but it took me a long time to be able to 'see' the way it expects you to. Once you start seeing the world at 15mm this lens delivers, but it's a process, and even then, the end result is not for everyone. Have you done much wide angle photography before?

i shot this pic over a year ago and it was even accepted into the PPG Premier Collection (go figure), but it never looked right to me due to my limited PP skills at the time. I re-visited it for fun and finally got it mostly where i want it; I beg your indulgence to have another look. thanks!

Marin Sunset

DA15 Ltd.

PS - i left in that bit of flaring to remind me why i should remove all filters when pointing into the sun, lol.

Cleverly done image. And wonderfully apt flaring effect. It's not surprising such a little lens is a big talking point amongst Pentaxians. Beautiful results abound here.

The widest I used to shoot in the film days was a 28mm, but it was my favorite focal length. Of course, I shot a lot more landscapes back then and not nearly as many people shots. The 15mm on my K-x has the field of view of about 23mm on film, so that is certainly a good bit wider than the 28mm I used to love so much.

I'm definitely going to stick with it for a while, though. I really want to like this lens.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has had trouble getting adjusted to it. Thanks!
