I would love to hear some expanded details about your exposure, time of day, and, particularly post processing details. The colors are superb, as is the intensity. If you prefer, I can pm you, but perhaps others may be interested, if you have a moment to spare.
I don't mind; glad you like it. Hopefully others won't mind either.
It was a little after 6pm last night. This is ranch land that has been designated as public open space. It doesn't get used a lot so I usually have the place to myself and it's very close to where I live. Tomichi Creek runs through it and it's a nice spot for fishing, walking, and XC skiing in winter.
I'd been shooting and walking the dog a bit, just handheld with my small kit (K-S2 and a few Limited primes). The clouds kept catching my eye and I was looking for compositions to include them. When Luna crossed the water to this little island I could see this composition coming together but I had to move back a little and crouch to fit the clouds in. I took 10 or so similar exposures over a minute or so as she explored and this was the best of the bunch. I chimped to see if the clouds were blowing out and found they were so I set Ev to -2/3 so they didn't blow out (much). There was a big difference in light between the shaded foreground and sunlit clouds in the background.
1/125s, f/8, ISO 200 in Av mode, RAW (dng).
Processed in Lightroom 6: Punch preset on import, increased exposure, increased shadows, decreased highlights.
Finished in Nik Color Efex Pro: Detail Extractor, Brilliance & Warmth, maybe some Contrast Color Range (needs to be used sparingly)
