Cross-posted to the panorama thread, I used the DA 15mm for a stitched panorama at the Segovia balloon festival this weekend.

thank you for your interest.
It's a wooden clock tower of the medieval church in Altenkirchen, the island of Rügen
It came to me on the weekend as I listened to the radio what this picture reminded me of. They were playing Mussorsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, and the second last picture he writes for in this piece is of a character who is apparently out of Russian folklore, Baba-Yaga, and is described as a witches hut on chicken legs out chasing little children... made me smile, and I was glad I remembered

I have been a native of Russian folklore since childhood. And I must say, the island of Rügen did not call for such associations. Although, I admit, it's because I was abroad and was not going to see images from Russian fairy tales :-)

One of the things I really like about this lens is that it gives very creative distortion when you get up really close to something. As an example, I shot this 1951 Studebaker Commander some years ago with it, and I enjoyed the result. You already know about the starburst capability, I suspect. You hardly need to focus it at all for most shots, just set it at the hyperfocus point and fire away. There will be some purple fringing at the edges of photos where there is high contrast, but that is a minor annoyance, solvable in post.

As a writer-photographer for firearms publications, I find it handy for photographing longer subjects where my photo distance is limited by a tripod, and it gives sharp and practically distortion-free results, as you can see here.

I think you will really enjoy your new toy - I love mine.

John
Love the colour of that Studebaker
