Just had a rather non-standard photo of some sea rock hit Flickr Explore: only my second ever! Shot with Pentax KP.

Congrats on the Explore. Well deserved.

Well I have changed my mind on this lens, always knew it is a good lens, now that I have one it hasn't left my K-5 for a while now. First one is at GOMA Brisbane, the others are cityscapes of Brisbane. the pink ship in the centre of the third image is I think was sailed by Jessica Watson around the world when she was about 16.

The first image is a sculpture by:
Pannaphan Yodmanee

Born 1988 Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand
Lives and works in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand

Pannaphan Yodmanee was trained in traditional Buddhist painting from a young age. She now draws on Buddhist cosmology to create site-specific installations that resemble modern ruins or demolition sites. She constructs these using slabs of demolished concrete, exposed iron structures and walls primed with concrete and rocks. These raw elements are delicately painted with scenes depicting historical events in South-East Asia, including conquests, battles and journeys across land and sea. She uses gold leaf and the vivid blues associated with Thai Buddhist art, and also creates her own Buddhist objects and icons, which are dispersed throughout the installation like secrets waiting to be discovered. Yodmanee is particularly interested in the role that faith and religion have in our lives, and their capacity to foster peace and happiness, but also destruction, conflict and violence.

I took this literally the first time I used the HD DA15, I bought it for a proper photography trip down in Connemara in the west of Ireland, been going there my whole life, always took photos but this time with good gear at last. Driving down I saw this scene and jumped out of the car at Killary Fyord, manual exposure f8 with 1/500sec.

Edit: This was essentially the out of camera version, I did PP several versions with raised shadows so you could read the engravings on the graves. A monochrome version was also much liked when I posted that several years ago.

Another from the west coast of Ireland, the photographic paradise of Connemara, County Galway, sunset at Glassillaun beach. I 'electrified' this one a bit in Color Efex but the untouched RAW isn't far off it.

I'd love to get back down there, about 230 miles from my home, it is a dark sky area too 😀

Field of Tea (DA 15 limited)

(This is a bit unusual for the US as most tea is grown elsewhere, but there is one place that grows tea just south of Charleston, SC).
