Seems like mixed reviews of the 15mm. Any other recommendations for that wide or wider for landscapes?
Thanks!

I sold my DA15 after seeing the same shot taken by the DA 16-45. I don't have any use for bling so letting it go was an easy decision. I have a Sigma 10-20 and those 5 extra mils go a looooooong way. The Sigma's IQ is every bit as good as the DA15. Easy decision and no regrets.

I'm assuming you're referring to the f3.5 version.

But for me, I would prefer the DA 15 for its size, its quality, and most of all, I'm just a prime person.

Yeah, pretty evenly divided between "fantastic" and "amazing."

I think, when it comes right down to it, that the major major advantage the DA 15 has over zooms is the size (which is considerable). I'm under the impression that the IQ differences are pretty non-existent.

That said, I will be buying the DA 15, because every other alternative is a bulky zoom!

Nope, I have the f4 version.

I like primes too, but the DA 15 doesn't perform like a prime and that's why dpreview gave an under whelming review.

Yep, that's why I sold the Sigma 10-20 and bought the DA 15.

Selling a 10-20 for a DA15 is like selling a Bigma for 100mm lens.

.

The difference is not non-existent, though, at least with the kit lens, the 16-50 2.8, and the DA 16-45. The DA 15ltd is sharper at f/4. The 12-24 is almost as sharp at 15mm, but larger, more expensive, and with worse response to flare. I can't speak about the Sigma 10-20 & 8-16, because I haven't owned them, but again, size & flare are never going to match the DA 15 even if sharpness does.

Zion Narrows

Hiking mostly through water in a drysuit last weekend, needed something wide enough for the Narrows, but small enough to fit in my rented dry bag. Tripod, K-7 and 15 Ltd with a ND screw-on. These are a couple of the many photos from our 5-hour hike.

Those are really nice gnaztee. And 5 hours hiking in a dry suit sounds pretty clammy!

What ND filter did you use?
What dry bag? As in was it a white water dry bag you take the camera out of to shoot, or was it one your camera "wears" while you shoot?

Actually, considering the air temp was in the 20s and the water temp at 36, I would call the dry suit "comfortable"

Filter is a B+W 4-stop

edit: oops, dry bag was just a roll-top closure, like a whitewater bag. Actually, I didn't need it so much as the water levels were never above thigh-high and I managed not to fall over any rocks. In fact, I carried my tripod over my shoulder with the camera mounted the entire hike back out of the canyon.

I appologize for not making myself clear... I was referring only to the UWA zooms. From the samples I've seen, the DA 15 is much sharper than the normal zooms that hit 16. Forgot to mention the superior flare rejection that comes with the smaller number of lens elements.
