i use a glassless 49mm filter on this lens to step up to a cokin adapter/ filter without any ill effect. one glassless filter is enough to get you past the retracted hood so theres no worry of vignetting.

That sounds great.

So one glassless filtering and then either a Cokin adapter or a stup to allow 58mm ND filter.

Thanks

(does the same trick apply to the 31mm LTD? using a 58mm glassless filter or two to clear the hood?)

Yes, that works for me, except it takes 3 filter rings to clear the hood for me on my FA31.

EDIT: I should mention that I have not used a filter on the end of the rings. I just use the rings to make a hood that covers 360 degrees and so I can use a regular lens cap. Also I get my empty filter rings from 2filter.com.

Thank you
(though I assume that is only needed to attach a Cokin... a regular 58mm ND filter can go on the FA 31 Ltd?)

Sorry for getting off subject in this thread.

Ira, as your avatar suggests, , you are simply a puppet to the lenses you covet.

You must now acquire the DA 15ltd. Your Spiritone has brought you this far; you now must step up to the precipice, and summon the Asahi 'divine whirlwind' to deliver the ether-forged 15 into your hands. (free shipping that way.)

Don't listen to Jay ... he's a classic lens-pusher ... I have succumbed to his way with words and pictures previously. He is evil ... truly he is.

The reason I can plead innocent to that is because, as the thread title states, The DA 15ltd Controls My Mind.
