So why did I sell my DA15? The clincher was seeing the same identical shot taken with both the DA 15 and 16-45. For a prime lens, the image taken with the DA15 didn't look the least bit better in any regard than the shot taken with the 16-45... And the 16-45 is half the price of the DA15 in Canada!! So why would I want to keep an under performing over priced lens?
Three reasons why I'm thinking of doing the opposite, that is, sell my 16-45 to fund a 15mm ltd.:
a) the prime is smaller (obviously), and I'd rather have a 15mm ltd. + A 28mm + 40mm ltd. in my bag (this combo having approximately the same weight as the zoom, and allowing for better weight distribution for my aching spine);
b) the 16-45 is exceptional
for the money, and DxO turns its output into something
fantastic, but primes--although I personally have no knowledge about 15mm in particular--are still better: 1) visibly better microcontrast, and 2) better resistance to PP;
c) I'm pretty sure there will not be as many functional 16-45mm zooms as 15mm ltd's in the next 10 years (I'm inclined to think some dis-alignment will take place among the elements of zooms).
To these I could add the following 'pseudo-'reason:
d)
value: imagine Nikon starts producing their version of the 15mm ltd. now imagine the price.
