Why don't you show some examples?

For one thing, the sky needs to be very clear, it doesn't work through clouds, it doesn't even work through a slight haze. The light needs to have a great deal of coherency.

Also, best bet is to try f/8 or smaller for a tighter star.

Thanks. Yes, I used a little of the "tonal contrast" Nik effect. I do have a 3 shot sequence but haven't got around to doing the real HDR processing yet on them.

My favorite lens, the DA 15 limited, doing something seasonal. Christmas markets are a big thing in Germany. According to my German sources, the markets exist for one and only purpose: so that people could have a good reason to drink glühwein (with plenty of alcohol). The shot below is from Bremen.

I was so focused on what really matters that I actually forgot to take a proper photo of the background.

I had taken one several hours before the shot posted, but it was during daylight and not as spectacular. Fortunately I did have a good enough night shot from a different angle, so I don't have to bang my head to a wall.

Brussels, Belgium, during light snowing. This one has been cropped quite a bit.

Thank you all for providing such nice photos. Unfortunately, in my case its close but no cigar with this lens. I thought it might provide me a reason to sell my Sigma EX 14mm/2.8 full frame lens, but I see that the Sigma still holds its own against this lens, possibly because of the crop factor. 1 mm less, f4 vs 2.8, APS-C vs full frame, tiny lens vs a massive bulbous lens that looks the goods, as also a lens that actually shoots my feet on a full frame (film) if I'm not careful, means that the 15mm does NOT control my mind. Yay, free of LBA atlast!

Wow, can't argue with the beautiful color and contrast, especially for that photo on the right- but either there's "a bit" of distortion or else she has a reaaal hard time finding shoes in size 20!

LOL at the shoe remark. Yeah you have to be careful at the corners, does a stellar job of keeping things straight with the result that the corners can get a bit weird. Another quirk of this lens is that it finds the sun very easily because the front element protrudes so much. On the other hand this is the only full frame lens that I have found that has no PF.

Did somebody say sunbursts? :P (all at f11 or so, I believe). And on that note, the sun was slightly behind the clouds in some of these, peaking out now a bit - hence the varying prominence of the rays.

For the sunburst, I would use F16 or smaller, face the sun, then turn about 90 degrees so that the sun is not in the frame. Meter off of the sky without the sun in the frame, then turn back towards the sun and take your shot. Make any needed exposure adjustments using the first pic as something to go on.

I absolutely love this lens, it's my new favorite lens. I use it even more than my Pentax DA 35/4 Macro Limited, which was my favorite before this one. Of course, I think it might be the feeling of novelty that the DA 15/4 still has. I've provided links to some samples. Please let me know what you guys think.
