Excellent work on this page!
Love the toning on this one

Another meager contribution to the thread. I haven't gotten a proper outing with this lens yet.

Let's keep the fun going, shall we?

This is my first attempt at that whole genre of landscape photography that involves setting up your camera really close to water's edge at rock/pebble level. To those of you who do this regularly, my heart goes out to your knees, squatting as you must to meticulously set up and adjust the tripod in its various enormously precarious arrangements until things are just right.

And a little later on at the far end of dusk. I must have done something to the tripod between these images, because I weakened a much stronger composition somehow. Alas.

Dude that first shot is sweet! I think I would crop away the top third of the image and the blue balloon on right to really draw attention to the two on left (that's where my eyes want to go anyway).

The last several photos are great!
I'm back home for a couple of days and then off to the Midwest.
Went for a nice hike with the family today.

Matt, you live amongst most enviable landscapes. What are those interesting rock formations in the background?

Well, I returned to the bridge this evening. You all know the one by now. Probably you're asking, "V5, what makes this next shot different from the other ten in the exact same location you've posted?!" Well, this one is probably my best effort centering and aligning the subject after many many attempts! Also, the keen observer will notice the clouds differ from shot to shot... Okay, perhaps the very keen observer. I assure you, the photons are fresh from the field.

Ah, but okay, perhaps that is not different enough to satisfy. How about then, this new and tantalizing composition?

Still a stretch to call this content "new"? Well... there are many bridges in Seattle. Here's part of one that will be "new" to you, just a three-minute jaunt away:

We're going to call it "moodily high contrast" to disguise the fact that I arrived there well after dark and that the K-7's dynamic range is not up to such a demanding and unfair task.

Thanks, the rock formations are called The Castles and this is the Mill Creek Valley. It's about 15 Miles from my house and a great area for hiking or XC skiing in winter months.

I like the bridge variations too. I know how that is when you are trying to get that perfect shot it can take more than a few tries!

15mm Pano Fail

I tried a panorama with the 15mm on Sunday. Now I'm really tempted to sell the Sigma 10-20mm

But.... I really need to learn to leave more cropping room and take more shots than I think I need for the pano

Late catching up with this thread, but I like both of these. BTW, where is Auroa Bridge? I have spent a fair amount of time in and around Seattle, but don't think I have ever heard of this bridge.

Thanks guys!

Tom -- the Aurora Bridge is an ugly utilitarian structure on the west end of Lake Union that connects Fremont to Queen Anne. If you have ever been to the famous "Fremont Troll" during one of your visits here, you were actually standing under the northern terminus of this bridge. (Confusingly the Fremont Troll is not located under the Fremont Bridge, which itself is a few minutes' walk further west.)

V5. The one thing (except the bridge) I love about these night shots is the faint streak of lights left by planes happening to just pass on by as you take your photos
