Love that shot Schneider ! But think it would look better still as a pano (lose the top above the train roof and everything below the tracks the train is on.

Thanks Frogfish! I tried the pano-option and I do not prefer it over this one. The pano to me lacks a strong focal point, whilst the complete shot has more things going on. What I do think is that it will get better the larger it is so that from a distance you see the broad picture and close by there are the details like the face. I am normally very fond of pano's, like this one (made on the same day):

The colors are typical for a Dutch train, so for non-natives there may be less recognition in the scene.

Schneider, I rather like that shot. The colors are so vivid.

Well... I returned to the lighthouse. This time I came prepared with more appropriate footwear for getting into the water so I could get a better composition. I'm surprised my toes still work after standing in the cold water from the Puget Sound for so long!

Anyway, this image has had quite a long adventure from the RAW to what you see... hopefully the pixels have not been pushed past the breaking point, I can hardly tell anymore I've been working on it so long.

Possibly some more images later...

Very nice v5planet, I like the colors!

Side question, has anybody printed a DA15mm photo as a 30"x20" enlargement? And if so, what sharpening did you use for the printout? I'm using a K-x, and I printed a photo as my first 30"x20" enlargement, bright settings, with some minor post processing, However, as wonderful as it looks resized for the web, it came out a little soft in the printout. Since this particular photo wound up at effectively ISO900 with +1.16 exposure in the Pentax Raw converter, I'm not sure if it would work sharpened, due to noise. But in general, I suppose for such a large print, a 100% radius 1 sharpening is probably approriate, along with the default camera settings (bright, +1sharp)? Just curious what opinions others would have.

I have but I shoot raw and sharpen in Lightroom "to taste". Typically I just use the Punch preset and tweak from there until it looks how I want. I've noticed some softness on some images but my thought was that it was just those images had a focus problem, vibration, etc that caused it. Most are sharp.

Great shots here as always. Deimos, love the first shot in B+W, great dramatic sky and eye for composition. v5planet, I think the color lighthouse shot works quite well.

Here's a couple from Santa Cruz, CA last February.
