Another great sunset tonight. I guess there's one thing to like about wildfires.

Howdy fellow 15mm's! It's been a while since I've posted on here and I've had my 15 for about a year now. It's easily my favorite lens and is on my K-5 99% of the time. With that being said the 15 does come with some heartache (at least my copy). Does anybody else have issues with extreme softness in the corners and even the edges on large landscape shots? I also have issues with a lot of CA, albeit on very high dynamic scenes which I know are an issue with pretty much any lens. I guess my question is is there anything I can do to help mitigate the softness? I used to focus 1/3rd into the scene, but the top corners were really soft, so now I center focus. I typically shot at f/8-f/11...have any other users found another aperture more useful for sharper dof on landscapes? Any info/help would be greatly appreciated! Here's 2 examples...

This image at 100% shows the mountain range in the top left corner is very soft! (Or perhaps I'm expecting too much?)

At 100% the tree's and greenery on the edge's are quite soft!
Hey SMcGuire! I had the same problem with my (by now sold) DA15 - even F8 or beyond and the service could only achieve a slight improvement. However, I would not care too much. One of my most favourite shots I have taken of the Place de Espagna in Sevilla looks very soft in the corners onscreen, but the A3 print does not show a single sign of softness! Hope that helps. The DA15 is a gem - I miss it....

Thanks! Not all that close, maybe 100 Miles or so. Close enough for smoke but no immediate threats. Hopefully it stays that way!

I used the DA15 almost exclusively for 5 months in the US. It worked amazingly well as a compact travel lens.

Thanks for the response Sinister...I think I'm going to call Pentax and see if there's anything they can do. I do love the lens, but the soft corners drive me nuts!

Two from Horseshoe Canyon, AB last weekend. My first taste of the AB badlands.
Didn't get to Drumheller due to the floods.

Damn you people for creating a hole in my wallet!

The DA15 really produces great pictures, well at least as long as the photographer know what he/she is doing.
I'll give it a try, have my eyes on a used one that i'll buy. Wont happen until the end of July though, agonizing is one word that comes to mind for describing the waiting time.
