Originally posted by edgedemon Im off to Morocco in a week and we have a balloon flight booked for dawn - I know Im asking the converted, but if you had only one lens, would the 15mm be the one to take?
Im asking as Im looking to hire a lens for the balloon flight as my DA12-24 is in being repaired.
I got to shoot a balloon flight on July 4th to shoot photos for our city government and newspaper.
I took the 18-135 and the DA15, but never got the chance to change lenses (and was a little afraid to) so it was all shot with the 18-135 which did a fine job.
I bet it would have been good with the 15, but I did zoom in for some shots so the versatility was definitely a benefit.
K-5 & DA 18-135
Before we flew I got good use of the 15 for the ground shots.
Bottom line is you will probably be fine with just the 15, but that may depend on how you like to shoot too.
That's too bad about your 12-24 as I imagine that would be the ideal lens for this sort of thing.
