Thank you very much.
Cool tower, but what is it supposed to be?

Originally posted by Kayaker-J You captured a very beautiful photo-realist, painterly effect in these bridge pictures, Pablo. It really suits the subject... AND the background details, as well. So nice. Are there any "secret sauce" tricks to getting this effect you'd care to divulge? I'm quite curious; I haven't gotten out there with my own newly acquired DA 15 Limited yet, but I am raring to go.
Thank you, I appreciate your complements.
Nothing I'd call a secret sauce. Both photos are similarly processed, nothing out of the ordinary, I underexposed (of exposed on the background) so as not to lose detail from the sky and later boosted the visible dynamic range in lightroom using the basic sliders (-highlights, +shadows, +whites), no curve adjustments. What you call the "painterly effect" comes, I think, from the boost in clarity that I applied as well. Another thing that had a certain effect is a minimal decrease in luminance of the blue colors to give a little 'pop' to the sky. On the second photo I also applied quite a serious vertical shift of the frame because of the angle the photo was taken from.
The last ingredient is, of course, the DA15 that adds a special something to the photo. It is certainly a unique lens.
