My son on a recent vacation trip.

Cross posted in the Backlit thread (which is full of beautiful shots you should check out!).

Great shot!

A couple from a recent one day trip. Too bad we had to make it back for the 19:00 train, so I missed the best light

For DA15, it is provided on lens by focus distance scale and hyper focal data of the lens.
for lenses which have no scale(DA18-135) or no usable hyper focal data(DA35ltd), your only bet is the app you've mentioned.
I actually still use a Sony Clie to run DOF Master for PalmOS. I like it better than my phone because it has a transflective screen that can be read in the sunlight. I keep hoping for an eink (EPD) based phone that mortals can afford which runs Android. Even a 4-6" tablet would be good. My phone just is a waste of time in the sun...it's a new Moto G 4g LTE. Until then my decade old Sony Clie does it for me.
