Looks like there might be some interesting ice over on the other side, like a mini waterfall. Can you get over to that? Or is it not as interesting as I think it looks?

The ice isn't very thick and it would be a long walk around to get there. It isn't really a waterfall though, just large icicles hanging down.

Rondec, I really like your photos (here and elsewhere). Of the group posted here, I think I like the first one best, mostly because there is a lot more depth to the composition. It looks like a neat location.

I definitely like winter photos, in general. They sure make things that might not be so interesting, interesting. We don't really get that here in Northern California. Our white winter means thick fog, which isn't very conducive to photography.

Fog can make for arround the best picture one can shoot ! Look for the meteo and learn to predict when the fog start to retire/come. This is when you can get the most spectacular shoots. For landscape, a big part of it is knowing the area, where to come, what angle/framing to get but also when and what atmospheric condition will bring the best of it !
