The APS-C crop mode frame on the ff K-1 is rectangular, not square, and the image produced appears to be the same rectangular shape as the same lens setting would have produced on an APS-C camera such as the K-3. So, when you speak of a square crop mode are you referring to something else, perhaps the "after-capture" cropping function accessed via what I call the on camera "OK 4-way pad" after taking via the the photo. I am sorry to be so dense, but simply trying to understand exactly is meant here.
