picked up a second hand 15mm prime and have been out a bit to play with it. love the size and image quality. Whats the lens sweet spot as far as aperture goes? and has anyone else notice a slight lack of sharpness in the left upper quarter of the image? the image seems razor sharp except the upper left quarter, I have notice on some other images in the feed. I never really shoot above f8 when I am out shooting. the ones I have seen on the feed shot at f11 look quite good. any advice on where this lens hits its sweet spot hand held?

Sweet spot is f8 to f11. It can be a tricky lens to use (copious amounts of field curvature), but is capable of great things.

Ditto - f/8 to f/11 to get the corners sharp but before diffraction really sets in. Sounds like your copy is de-centred if one side is softer than the other. That's something that seems to be quite common on the DA 15mm and something you should check for before buying.

couldn't check as I bought it online. If it is de-centered which I am pretty sure it might be on the left side. maybe as much as the left quarter. Is there a fix? a service option? only thing I haven't tried yet is on a tripod playing with different apertures. but all the shots i have so far a f8 are exibiting left side lack of sharpness compared to the right.

As far as I know, de-centred lenses can't be fixed. It should never have left the factory.

I would send it back for a refund if possible and wait for another one to turn up.

Here are a few images shot on the 15mm limited and the k70. I think my lens may has a slight de-centered problem. If varies on it's serverity and maybe some of it is due to pixel peeping. I do know however if I am noticing it on my screen, then I will really notice it in print. The winter ones I think it shows up more than the summer/spring ones below. Let me know if you see it too or if I'm loosing my mind. Left side versus right side. Second image and final image show it the most.

Nice! Even the 15 can need stitching from time to time

Re-visited some shots from a few years back. These were taken in Isalo national park, Madagascar.

Glenny Gorge Swirl

The swirling lines in the water are leaves as they leave a trail during a 25 sec exposure.

Lovely sun bursts, I don't think my HD DA 15mm is up to that :'(
