Here's my first image with the SMC 15mm f4! I think I get what you guys mean by controlling your mind, since it forces you to zoom around quite a bit with your feet almost robot-like until you stand in the exact right spot for the photo, since even changing your position by a couple inches changes the whole perspective quite dramatically.

looking at pic in this thread is great.
It makes me want to get a apsc now.
With the K1, this lens isn't going out enough.

I've had this lens for a year by now and it is my to-go lens when I'm either snowboarding, hiking or cycling due to its sharpness, portability and a must for my activities, weight. Wish it was WR too. That way I wouldn't be so worried when I'm out shooting skiers and snowboarders.

Apparently you can shoot the K-1 and the DA 15 in square crop and it works. Unless you just dislike square crop (20MP files) , you have plenty of reason to use the K-1 and DA 15.

Funny you say that because I'm liking this lens so much I am actually starting to think I might never need to go full frame, so this lens may actually save me a lot of money!

For most people there is little NEED driven logic, and a lot of WANT driven logic for moving to FF. So why do I want it? LOL. I can't really reconcile the delta in quality with the results I "need" and the costs both physical and monetary. But I still find myself wanting to do it. I need to take the time and rent a K-1 and get direct experience before doing anything.

I can say the same for my DA15 since I've got the K-1. Still I couldn't just sell it, I am very fond of this lens. I believe it taught me a lot since framing is not trivial with this lens so you have to work a little bit. So far I have been using it from time to time on the K-1 in crop mode, output is almost identical compared to my old K5IIs which I don't have anymore.

Let's be honest, one doesn't get the K-1 to use it with DA 15. But you can still use it if you want. One thing I'll have to try is to use it with Pixelshift to improve the sharpness.

I wouldn't ever want to dissuade anyone from renting Pentax gear, but both LensRentals and Borrowlenses send me a discount code in an email about every other week.

Nice sunset at the house yesterday. Three exposure HDR using Google Nik... which is one reason I can't totally leave Windows and LR behind for Linux/RawTherapee, etc. I really like SilverEfex Pro and HDR Efex.

And sometimes when you're HDR'ing you don't mess around. You really gotta HDR.
