Apparently you can shoot the K-1 and the DA 15 in square crop and it works. Unless you just dislike square crop (20MP files) , you have plenty of reason to use the K-1 and DA 15.
I have a Tamron 17mm lens for FF.
Most of the time, I had my FF 17mm with me, rather than the DA15.

Cape Otway Gum Trees

This is a shot I wasn't entirely happy with originally. Some playing in PP has improved it IMHO.

Messing around with the new filmic module in Darktable. I adore this lens: so compact and versatile!

Question for the group

Does anyone have experience using the 15mm on cropped mode on the K-1? Would you get the 15mm or something else for use on the K-1? Thanks in advance for any comments.

The photos in my post just before yours were taken with the K1 and 15mm. It’s still a great lens, it’s just no longer ultra wide angle like with aps-c cameras. To be honest though, I’d rarely need that much of a spread for my photos. It would be nice to still have the option, but it’s no huge loss for me

? I'm confused about what you are saying. It is still as wide or wider depending on if you crop. Even cropped to exactly apsc it is the same angle of coverage as before. A full frame 22-23mm is going to be about the same angle of coverage (with more pixels) as the 15 and if you manually crop it could be slightly wider. Cropped will of course only give ~16mp images.

So I conducted a test for you today. Apologies for the image quality. I had to shoot at 22 f-stop on both cameras because my k-30 has aperture block failure.

I didn’t touch the photos at all in LR, so they’re bland, as RAW files are.

First pic is k-1

Second is k-30

Hard to tell because I had trouble screwing the camera onto the tripod in the same place. You could be right. I assumed that with in body vignette correction it would be less wide

Good to see actual shots. It might be slightly different but it is close. Thanks for doing this.
