Don't want to bring horror to one of the great threads of PF, but does anyone know how to fix a dented focus ring on a DA 15 Limited? I dropped it from a few feet up onto pavement.

Do you mean the filter ring? I suppose the same way as for any lens - bending it back into shape. There are special tools available for it, you could try e-bay.

No not the filter ring, the focus ring, the lens has a gap between focus ring (where the lens hood resides) and the main element. The focus ring is bent now I've tried bending it back but it only partially works there is still is a bind when it gets close to the hood. It may be beyond repair. This is the second copy I have of this lens. First lens was the HD version that dropped out of my pack while downclimbing near a waterfall, and now this. I want to repair it because its an SMC version which I prefer because of the starbursts. I might just keep looking for a good one. At least its dropped in price since I first bought it.

Brrrr horror story :/ Sorry to hear bad news. I just packed my da15 to my backpack for tomorrow's morning quick shooting.
Does the focus ring turn manually or it is completely stuck? Such wide angle doesn't need much focusing and AF is quit often redundant...

I told myself I wasn't going to buy another APS-C lens after I got a K-1...but I bought HD version on that auction website for $240. I figure that is the same price or cheaper on repairing my SMC DA 15mm.

A K1 with DFA 15-30 @ 22.5mm or DFA 24-70 @ 24mm doesn't make the DA15 on a small compact Pentax body defunct. You get a small light DSLR UWA with stunning IQ less than 1/2 the weight without the bulk, it has all the advantages of relative smallness... Long hikes, street photography etc.

I prefer the HD version myself, a great complementary lens is the HD 20-40 Ltd, it colours and renders exactly the same with amazing flare resistance etc. and has silent AF and WR.

The trail to Loughshannagh, Mourne Mountains, Ireland

This one from 2017, not 2019 as the photo stamp. The lake Loughshannagh is further up in the mountains out of view. I just love this old iron gate with the lovely patina of aged red paint.

There are dry stone walls all over the mountains and they are a survival for navigating in fog and cloud also providing great shelter from the wind which can be savage... This year 2 hikers were blown over the side of cliffs within an hour at two different spots and unfortunately they did not survive.

Helicopter rescues are a common site also with both the British and Irish coast guard frequently helping fallen hikers.

Don McLean wrote a song about this mountain range too

Tonight was the first time in several months that i put this lens to work. For whatever reason it's been like a red-headed stepchild for awhile.
