Sunset

A little different framing an editing of the same sunset. Both shot on the K-01.

After a big dump of snow in October and some -23C weather earlier this month, the past week has been unseasonably warm. Taken at the community park close to my house, you can see how low the sun is at 2:42 in the afternoon.

I like the first one better because it shows more of this beautiful, clouded sky. I put a "golden ratio grid" over it and the sun is not in an intersection in both, but in the first one, with the cloud line leading right up to it, it looks a lot more pleasing to my eyes. The editing on the second one may result in a more natural look, but I also like the brighter first picture more. Also the sun star looks cleaner in the first one.
Great photo!

Thank you! It's a great spot. I want to get it with snow on the beach but it is quite a dangerous spot. Lost a photographer there last winter.

Flare City

Rarely will I stop a lens down below f11 or maybe f16 but.....as an experiment I stopped the DA15ltd down to f22.

Whoa! Flare city!

Taken on K-3 in Acadia National Park.

That isn't flare but sunlit dust spots somewhere in the, on the lens or on a filter if you had one attached coming into focus due to the increased depth of field. Usually I see this with an attached grad filter and high f number but you can use it for creative effects, it looks like photons arriving from the Sun

^^^ Great composition, I really like how you have used grid lines and curves on the left and the entire image takes advantage of the DA 15's field of view and works with its distortion on the edges.

Cool that's where I thought, really wish I made the effort to go there last time I was in France
