I’m not sure I read your post correctly though.
The problem might be is in my choice of words. I was very impressed how sharp parts of the image were when zoomed in 100%, so much so that you could tell the eye was not "smooth as glass" by the distorted reflection of the photographer. The shot was taken at f4, which is generally considered to a weak point of this lens, yet here is an example where if look close enough, the DA 15 is still sharp at f4 for the in-focus parts of the image. At full resolution depth of field is still an issue in spite of the wide field of view, compared to viewing it at a reduced resolution.

I'm trying really hard to love this lens. I spent a two hour beach walk with it today and in lite PP, I was SO tempted to crop some of the images it was driving me crazy. There must be a zen to using this thing in it's intended way (instead of the wide end of my 18-135 or the 20-40 LTD):

This shows well what can be done with the DA 15mm

Only the third one seems like it is crying for a crop. The first in particular would suffer at 18-20mm.

This is a challenging lens to use, but I’m learning to love trying to make it sing!

Put my K3 II into the line of fire last night. Literally, and it even took several direct impacts from the burning wool. No marring or marks, but that's where you see the bright spot in the lower right of the first image. Won't be much longer until all the snow is melted away, which means being a lot more restrictive on where I can spin up steel wool. I did this last weekend with my 10-17mm fish eye as well. It had a more interesting perspective at 10mm, but that lens needed a lot of fringing and aberration correcting to get anything close to how nice the SMC DA 15mm Limited came out.

It was practically a fullmoon, so I planned to incorporate it into the shot like these. The sky was clear when I headed out, but the clouds rolled in while I was on the way to my location. I think it actually added to the overall look.

Great gray photo. The coloration is unique and quite appealing.
