The badger digs faster than any other animal in the world. They can also dig through many tough materials. One badger was observed digging through asphalt in a parking lot and it burrowed underground within 2 minutes! Badgers are ferocious predators and will not back down from any threat. You cross a badger at your own peril.

riseform,

This is an amazing capture. Here in BC's interior, we are doing what we can to conserve this species. Do you live near a grassland?

Cheers,

Thanks, I'm on a hillside just east of the Cascades above a flat creek basin with a prairie plateau above me. This is the edge where the Douglas firs and Ponderosa pines stop and the more desert like sagebrush area of eastern Washington begins. I 've seen and appreciated deer, elk, bear, coyotes, bobcats, marmots, skunks and racoons in the area, but I really thought badger country started a good 50 miles further east. Unfortunately, much of the surrounding area is being developed.

Major surprise at the camera trap this week. In my wildest dreams I never thought I'd get a badger at this location. I picked the wrong week to have my ISO and focus settings less than perfect, but even with the mistakes I'll take it over my usual deer and mice.

Wow, that camouflage!
Shame it wasn't perfectly in focus either.

Sorry no ID, but that must be quite a hefty mushroom. Amazing detail and nice separation from the background with the DA15. Great work!!!

Nice photo! So even after the flash, the critter stuck around and had a drink long enough to trigger the flash again? Are you ever worried a badger or skunk would spray your camera out of panic?

For some time I didn't shoot with my KP and DA15 Limited. But today I wanted to go out uncompromisingly lightweight. So took this combo plus my lightweight tripod and made some images - fog was rising and the sun setting.

Last one in Pixel Shift Resolution.

Have you tried the HDR in your camera? I have a K3 but have yet to experiment.

Yes, I've played around with in camera HDR and I think HDR Auto works pretty well. HDR 3 gave me a funny over done look but it may have been due to my error. HDR can be fun sometimes I down loaded the Aurora HDR program for free when they were running a promotion couple of years ago. I like it because you can pick and choose which shots from the bracket to use to make the HDR. I usually have no clue what the optimal setting for the scene would be so I spread out the bracket. And if the shots seem too bright, I will use the darker 3 shot out of the 5 brackets. Really unprofessional I know It sometimes works
