Steve
Those were the prototypes. The ones we can buy now are forged in the
ether and delivered via whirlwind. Much more efficient method than an old
wizard-type knocking his staff on your door to hand-deliver each lens.

hehehehe....because now I need yet another limited after replacing my 35ltd. I
want it, of all things, certain product shots. Given that sort of resolving power
this is a no brainer. Here I was going to be perfectly happy getting a Pentax
mount copy of my much missed Siggy 10-20/4-5.6 but nooooooo, you had to lead
me into temptation!! I have only one thing to say:

...

Breck, you've become unglued. Calmly open up another browser tab and order
the DA 15. Calmness and peace will overcome you.

Good try Blue, but that doesn't work any more! In fact, it's only worked on me
twice before when Gus somehow used mind trickery to get a couple lenses
from me. Now I'm on guard.

That's pretty much what happened to me - tried it for a few snaps at the Pentax
road show, and got hooked. Looking forward to seeing your shots, Frank!
Got mine two days ago:

Haven't got chance to bring it out yet, but here are some photos I took w/ the lens borrowed from a friend a while ago:

Late to this thread, J, but I have to thank you for all the nice images as usual. I waited for the release and reviews of the DA15, expecting it to trump what was already available from Pentax, especially for the price. It didn't, so I bought the DA12-24. But I am sure those who want a smaller lens can't go far wrong here. It's just that for me a zoom makes sense in the wide end, since a small change makes a big impact on the image.

But had I seen this thread I might have chosen differently.

The quality of the images by the OP are in large part to the man behind the camera JSherman. He has a certain Jeune ce quoi when it comes to making a lens sing.
I agree with you, but I think you are expressing in French a sort of twisted surprise that he is young.

LOL Robin! For reference, the correct way to write that expression is "a certain je ne sais quoi".

This lens has very quickly become one of my favorites, and has displaced the 21 as the lens that is on my camera by default. One thing that's great about this lens that doesn't get much mention the lack of purple fringing. The only other lenses I have that do better in this area are a couple of voigtlander apochromatics, which seems pretty amazing for such a little wide angle lens.

Here's a few from my first trip with the lens (I bought it for this trip).

Pictures are from Glacier National Park and Waterton

Yeah, beautiful!
[small] part of me is wanting this thread to die, so I don't get 'forced' to ordering the lens when I next get paid (2 days time). I think walter just blew that, as I want to get this for my next trip!!

nice photos in this thread.

I checked my e-mail today and one from Amazon claims a DA15/4 is being shipped to my address.....all I remember is looking at some pictures posted here and the Amazon website, and then it's all a blank to me ................there must be something to this mind control......that's my story and I am sticking to it when the package arrives at my doorstep

The thing that amazes me, is the lack of distortion in those photos. If I took photos of my son with my DA 16-50 at 16mm, he would look like one of the Na'vi.
