After driving to several places after an ice storm hoping to take some glorious pics and finding totally uncooperative sun under thick gray clouds, the sun briefly came partially out through a cloud layer when I pulled back into the driveway. Rose bush out front of my house. Note house across street through the ice especially in second photo. All taken with DFA 100 WR @ 2.8

Used new Silkypix 8.0 Pro which has some interesting new features.

xposted to K-70 pictures thread.

That is a shot worthy of being on someone's wall.

A few DFA 100 Macro WR shots from this weekend on the K3. The annual butterfly exhibit is going on again this year.

A violet is opening up in my house (still very much winter outside this far north)...

Picture used pixel shift which works well even with the very long exposure needed for shooting in a fairly dark space at high FL...

f16 .6sec (x4), ISO 100, Pentax 100mm WR, used remote shutter control, xposted to K-70 photos

I really like the lighting, and the colors in the OOF areas you've captured!

Congratulations on the K-1!

I was very close to purchasing a used Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro at a nice price, since I had really enjoyed using the same lens on a Sony DSLR for a bit, when I made the mistake of handling a display copy of the D-FA 100mm macro at B&H. After a couple seconds playing with it on my K-5 I knew that while the Tamron is nice, no other lens would ever really do... a used copy popped up on the Adorama website for $400 the very next day and I snatched it up.

Tomorrow I'll be really putting this lens through its paces on a botany- and invertebrate-focused trip to the NJ Pine Barrens, but I enjoyed grabbing a few little snaps around the botanical garden where I work yesterday. I was glad to have one of my favorite little pollinators (the Margined Calligrapher hoverfly) alight on one of my favorite wildflowers, "Blue Eyed Grass," actually a member of the Iris family though it does resemble a grass with tiny blue flowers. Just have to remember to stop down a touch further! Looking forward to pairing this with the AF-200 flash that came in my new K-3 ii kit... RAW developed in-camera while I wait on repairing my computer.
