Vivitar 19-35/3.5-4.5 - It seems I only shoot this lens at 19mm...

Ha ha - when I had a K-mount copy of this lens on my KX I think I shot one frame at 24mm and everything else at 19mm. I eventually sold it when I got a Tokina 17/3.5, freeing up the other 15mm of focal length for someone else to use...

I now have a copy in F mount but haven't used it yet.

I honestly have tried it at 35mm and dislike the feel (not necesarily the results).

Mine is an A-Mount; it was mint in box when I got it a few years ago. It comes with a crappy plastic hood which broke when my daughter dropped my Maxxum 5 with it mounted.

(Funny, she was about 4 YO, and I let her take a frame... she was not pleased after she shot the frame because she could not preview it... hard to explain film to a 4YO who will never know what a landline was to say the least... she does not even like my computer because it uses a mouse rather than touch screen!!!)

That's what hoods are for - sacrificing themselves to save the lens and/or camera.

Four portrait frames stitched in Lightroom. I'm always pleased with the way this lens performs when doing stitched panoramas. Vivitar (Komine) 28mm f2 close focusing.

I recently acquired a couple of plums:

I had been after the 55mm macro for ages. The 105mm was pretty much LNIB.

First pics with the 55mm:

Vivitar 500mm f6.3

I am cheating slightly, mine has a dollands nameplate. There's not many of these 500mm f6.3's around, they are something of a premium 1960's telephoto. Typical heayweight construction, unscrews into sections, big achro objective then one second telephoto group/element. I have already posted on this lens in the 300mm lens club but still playing with it. TBH it's not very impressive optically, but some good light and a good dose of sharpening in fastsone produced these results.
Coot pics at f9, moon at f11.

I think the black and white versions of these are better but I wanted to process them in colour too and decided to go with high contrast, high saturation, which is not what I'd normally do but given the "smokey" atmosphere I think it works quite well.

All S5 and Vivitar (Tokina) 17mm f/3.5.

I bought the Vivitar 55mm f/2.8 macro lens some years ago after wanting one for ages, then I barely used it. I took it out yesterday to see how it does and I'd say it's a little glowy wide open, not too sharp outside of dead centre wide open and has brushstroke-like bokeh.

I like it

I recently took my slow-apertured 28-90mm f/2.8-3.5 out for a trial on the S5 and remembered why I think of it as the flare monster.

It is quite sharp stopped down one stop though:
