Had a steal on ebay last week for an old set including a Vivitar 135mm f2.8 and a set of Vivitar AT-22 extension tubes, so here are my first tries with them combined.

with 68mm of tubes

With 32mm of tubes

They're both handheld and my first time ever using extension tubes....man is the DOF tiny! Really hard trying to get the right bits in focus, which resulted in some bad framing on most shots since I was too busy trying to get the focus right. Now I understand the need for a good set of macro rails

I love the 135mm so far, it is very crisp, colours seem to be a bit more alive then on my pentax m-135 3.5

I agree it is a nice piece of glass. They make that 135 f 2.8 with a close focus version--is that the one you are showing off here?

Unfortunately it isn't the close focusing version, just the "plain old standard"

Can't complain though sofar I like it compared to the m135. It's a bit heavier, bit bigger and the cap is terrible but the images produced are at least equal to the m135. I haven't tested it yet but I'm almost certain that the focusing distance off the"standard" vivitar is still allot smaller then it is with the pentax m135. And with extension tubes added you still have decent distance to the subjects for some "beginners-macro"

My Single in November choice is the Vivitar 28 2.8 (K02)
While the close focus is great the lens is great for the wide angle as well.

This view is now my 24inch desktop image...

I don't know about the parrot, but that inexpensive and rather cheaply made macro has some excellent bokeh!

I really enjoy this lens Robin. Use it often.
Still don't know what the parrot is though - doesn't feature in my book of Australian birds - maybe an escaped exotic????

Yann Tiersen Concert

These shots were taken with a K-r and a Vivitar 135 f/2.8 at an outdoor Yann Tiersen concert in the middle of the night. The lighting was pretty low so the ISO ranged from 800-3200 and I kept the aperture at f2.8. These shots have absolutely no PP done (these are for my photo class that does not allow any).

I'm posting a nice picture of the lens.

The photos with the lens were, how should I put it delicately - really bad (soft focus-like).

I did exchange the lens and #2 was much better, about what you would expect from a mirror.

I did return it, however, after rethinking my ever-changing lens collection. I was hoping I could replace both the 500 mirror and 800 tuber, but my manual-focus keeper rate is pretty low, and I have pretty good results with the 150-500, which I can crop a little if needed with as-good-as results.

Does my Vivitar 50mm f1.7 MC count?

Does my Vivitar 50mm f1.7 MC count? I'm rather happy with this shot. ISO100, f5.6, 13 second exposure.
