You know I thought people were going to mention some strange vivitars or throw in some zeiss lenses or something. And then of course there is whole world of M42.

Seriously, what lens could you not part with?

Ok. How about this one? The Tokina AT-X 840 80-400mm in K mount of course. Versions 2 and 3 were never made in K.

Obvious lens that no one in their right mind will part with
Voigtlander 125mm/2.5
Voigtlander 90mm/3.5

Black horse lenses that I will not part with, because you will never find them again (not to mention their amazing IQ):
Tokyo Kogaku (Topcor) 135mm/3.5
K 30mm/2.8

Lens that I did part with and regretted:
voigtlander 75mm/2.5

Any lens I sold in the past, I ended-up buying another one a year later... Even the 16-50...
There, you have it! (Maybe the subject should read: You'll regret it if you lose/break/get stollen...)

I will never sell any of the following:

Voigtlander 125mm f2.5

Pentax K 200mm f2.5

Pentax K 50mm f1.2

Pentax FA 50mm f1.4 (just too great a workhorse to get rid off)

All my Pentax 6x7 lenses!

I know I will regret if I sell my:

Pentax 31mm, 43mm, 77mm Limiteds
Pentax K 50mm f/1.2
Leica R 50mm f/2 Summicron

I regret selling my converted to Pentax Topcor 58mm f/1.4 and Zeiss 50mm f/1.4

I know I'm a sucker for 50-ish mm lenses.

SOLD and wish I hadn't:

Series 1 105/2.5 Macro. Bought NIB off eBay for $189.
K50/1.2. Bot here for under market.

What was I thinking?

Now I have a hard time even taking the photos of M50/1.7s and I have three.

this is tough for me to answer. Personally I have never ever sold or traded any photographic equipment. I have kept everything I have ever bought. Presently this is something like 6 bodies (3 film 3 digital) and 30 lenses.

My reasoning is, for the film cameras, all but one I bought new, and the resale value today is so low compared to what I origonally spent, I see no point.

of the lenses I bought 11 new, and picked up the remainder used, all well below market price.

Although I have some duplicates (focal length and speed) there is really not much overlap.

I have a relatively complete M42 kit, a relatively complete K mount MF kit, and a selection of very good fast AF zooms covering 10mm to 200 mm.

What I can say is that there are only 2 lenses I would consider selling, the other 28 are keepers, those are a rikenon 135mmF2.8 because the design is prone to reflections off the sensor (the only lens I have with this issue) and an FA 28-80 that I bought for $10 as a scrap lens, only to discover that except for the broken power zoom mode switch, which I removed totally, the lens works just fine, but I also have an FA 28-105 so I don't need both,

In terms of real keepers, out of the remaining 28, the ones I would never ever part with are Series 1 70-210 F3.5 (version 1), Sigma 70-200F2.8EX (non DG Non Macro), SMC 300F4, and my newly aquired samyang 85mmF1.4 and 8mm F3.5.

The others are not so much keepers, but really I don't see the need for anything else, and they are all pretty much obtainable and always will be. I just have not seen the need to get rid of them

Pentax-M 75-150/4 for me. Everything else I have is more common and more easily replaced if I changed my mind.

My FA 43 f1.9 Ltd. It is not going to be sold - ever. It is my first FA Ltd, although I do have a very, very nice DA 70 Ltd. (It isn't likely to be sold either, unless I end up with a FA 77 Ltd.) I am just amazed at what a wonderful lens the 43 is. The colors, bokeh, and general rendering are superb. The fact that it is a fast lens doesn't hurt either.

I will never sell my Sigma 28mm EX DG f/1.8. I cannot live without it. I am also starting to feel the same about the FA645 120mm F/4 macro. I love it. I could sell both of these lenses for a massive profit, but I won't. I did just sell my FA 50mm f/1.4 to a forum member and am kinda regretting it, but I bought a DA 70mm with the cash....so maybe it was worth it.

I'm in a similar situation. In film days, I didn't sell stuff, it was stolen. In these post-K20D-purchase-LBA-frenzy days, I have a ton of stuff I don't need, I just haven't bothered to off it yet. Much is easily dispensable -- I bought WHOLESALE LOTS in order to get a couple items cheap, and warehoused the extraneous gear. (Closet really, not warehouse.)

So I ended up with M42 and RF and MF film bodies I never intended to keep, but now I think they're kewl and they aren't worth selling. And various Canon-Konica-Leica-Nikon-Sockel lenses. And L39 lenses I thought (hoped) were M39s, and they don't work. All the non-Pentax non-MF stuff can go. If I can unload it...

[Pity me. Mom-in-law gave me her Minolta SLRs to sell, two SRT-101s and a Maxxum 7000, and a pile of lenses. But I see these listed on eBay at US$9.99, or $5.99, or $0.99 -- and no bids. I don't have the heart yet to donate them to a thrift shop.]

The PK and M42 stuff I wouldn't mind losing are mostly dupes or junky. I really don't need two Meyer Domiplan 50/2.8's eh? And two M42 2x TC's should be enough, I don't need the other four. The question is, do I keep the Vivitars, the Kalcor, the Hama, the Helios? And for the less-than-optimal lenses, well, they can always go as a WHOLESALE LOT.

Which is a long way of saying: What I got that I wanted, I still want, and I see no reason to sell it. And maybe I can unload the excess, and maybe I'll get another inheritance, and then I can buy more lenses, all of which will be keepers. LBA, me? Oh no, it's completely under control...

You left out the obvious 3rd choice - because of the image it produces.

10-17.

Oh, I just saw the one rule, sorry. Still you'll regret selling it.
Haha, that was my first thought too.

Sigma 24-60mm F2.8 needs to be on this list

(both the fish and sig are back in the fold...of my camera bag)

Voigt 125 f2,5. I can sell my FA31...hardly, but I can. But my Voigt 125? Never. Impossible.
