Pentax-FA 645 45-85mm zoom f 4.5.

The Pentax-FA 645 45-85mm zoom f 4.5 is really sharp and produces images so good that for many medium format Pentaxers it obsoletes the medium format prime lenses that fall within its range, the 45mm, 55mm, and 75mm except when you need a faster lens. Here are a few sample photos. I am not selling this one, though I might let its older brother go (the A non-AF version).

I'm going to revive this old thread since I came close to selling everything I have a few years ago and I am happy I didn't. I also want to see if anyone who posted over the years actually sold any of them. I didn't have a huge collection of lenses, but I would regret selling any of my lenses listed in my signature.

I know I'd regret selling my K series 28mm f/2, although the thought has recently crossed my mind as the funds from it could get me a brand new lens for my main system, though the nearest equivalent would be a 24mm f/2 and of course it wouldn't be compatible with and Pentax camera, film or digital.

I'm not sure I have any other lenses that I wouldn't be able to replace reasonably easily, even if it meant spending a bit more than I sold it for. I have quite a few lenses which I'm sure I'd never find again at the price I paid for them (including the K 28) but which are not that rare.

The only lens I've ever sold and then re-bought is the Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 but that's fairly common and it didn't take much time to get another copy at a reasonable price.

As a fellow fan of the F 50/1.7 (the best AF 50ish f/1.7ish lens ever made by Pentax) I'm curious what it can do that no other will? Other than have AF, good build quality and be fully film and DSLR compatible.

Edit: I just realised how old this thread and comment are so might not get a response.

I can reply, but I'll say that the K-mount lineup has evolved since I wrote my comment I should probably have written "no other lens in my bag will do" It's still a great lens though.

OK, I just found this thread, but here I can add a few of my Pentax lenses:
FA 50mm macro - so sharp
31mm Limited - versatile focal length, perfect weight balance and brilliant images
super multi coated Takumar 35mm - best lens I have for blues and greens
Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 - great indoors zoom with fast max aperture on K-70
Pentax-A 70-210mm - the zoom for my K-1
WR 100mm macro - no need to say anything
K 20mm - the wow-factor of focal length and colours on the K-1
Pentax-M 150mm
My two lens travel kit 16-85 and 55-300PLM
35mm macro limited - that or the 40mm limited are welded to the K-01 as my second body whenever I travel

I'll post again with my full frame keepers.
Now this thread has been resurrected, I'll keep my promise from the above post from 2017. There are quite a few: sorry (not sorry )

Laowa 12/2.8 D-Dreamer Zero-D - stupid name, but a beautifully built super-ultra wide which has no real competitor
HD DFA 21/2.4 Limited - no explanation required
SMC FA* 24/2.0 - I know some people bag it for the soft corners, but its rendering is really special
SMC 28/2.0 - because Hollywood. I would consider replacing it with a cosmetically cleaner copy if one turned up
HD DFA 28-105/3.5-5.6 - maybe the best kit lens ever made?
SMC FA 31/1.8 Limited - well, obviously. The same goes for the SMC FA 43/1.9 and SMC FA 77/1.8
HD DFA* 50/1.4 and HD DFA* 85/1.4 - until I become too old and frail to carry them perhaps
HD DFA 100/2.8 Macro AW - all the long macro I'll ever really need. But if a SMC FA* 200/4.0 Macro fell in my lap....
SMC A* 135/1.8 - there's just nothing else like it
HD DFA 150-450/4.5-5.6 - if there's a better long option in the future it will be even bigger, so nope

I would also now add the HD DA 10-17/3.5-4.5, HD DA* 11-18/2.8 and HD DA* 16-50/2.8 PLM to my list of crop keepers. And the HD DA 55-300/4.5-6.3 PLM would get an honourable mention too.

For me, it's a tie between three lenses:

Tokina 28-80 AT-X Pro 2.8
SMC Pentax 35mm Macro Limited F2.8
Sigma Art 18-35mm F1.8

Those three lenses give an insane amount of versatility and are my favs by far.

And I forgot to add the 21mm Limited, for when to K-70 needs to be more subtle than the 16-85. I took some great shots in Hoi An a few years ago, the lens picks up the colours and light in the old city unbelievably well. It also serves as the wide angle on the K-01
