Couple with 85. Seems sharp thou. Will give it a proper change. Have to make up my mind of investing DFA*85(when it comes out), or 50. Seems like great focal this 85 too.

Couple with 85, I have been trying to figure this lens out. So far still it is mostly great if one has good MF skills. AF is quite fast, but hunting like h€ll. And seems to work at it's worst in close focus distance. BUT If i have used auto 9 or 33 point focusing, it does some how work, but then again you are in hands of AF alone. It did work okay thou. Experimenting continues. I can see the potential of this lens, quite sharp actually and it is nice on K-1. I like FA and DFA* colours more, but it is not bad still.

edit: played little a bit more today with auto 33, both AF.C and AF.S mode. It is actually not so bad. Focus is quite good, just have to have that AUTO 33 on. Also it chooses points close center where it focuses, so you can have pretty good control over it. I'm relieved now and happy about my purchase. Even if I have 70-200, and it is exellent, it can't do what fast 85 can do. I will explore more on this lens. It certainly will be part of my portrait shoots, while DFA*70-200 will be for almost anything else and portraits in good light and where I can find enough room for it. Or 31, or...

just received the Siggy 17-35 EX Asph yesterday (purchased from a fellow member here).

To me, the AF is about as fast as it could be. no complaints on it.

Am wondering if there's any filter to fit it.

Have never used something this wide before. Widest i ever used before is 24mm.
So, am eager to try it out this weekend.

Any members here who currently use this lens or have used it before, appreciate if you could share your experience on it (pros, cons, anything to take note of when using it etc etc). Cheers.

Congratulations! I have the 3.5-4.5 version of that lens and really enjoy it.
Warnings: Watch when taking images of people that they are not too close to the edges. Even though these are not "fish-eye" lenses, they do distort at the edges ... which can be fun at times :-D
Tips:
- I will turn mine vertical when shooting some landscapes. This allows you to get everything from the grass at your feet to the sky straight above you - sort of an interesting perspective.
- Shooting at f/16 gives you great star shapes of pinpoint light sources which stand out in a wide angle image.
- These are terrific for night photography since they capture so much of the sky. Use a tripod, a remote shutter release, and set your camera to mirror lock-up for best results at about 30 seconds (after that you start to get star trails ... which is not a bad thing necessarily).

Enjoy & happy shooting! :-D

Had a long day with this one (few threads about it around the forums here)... Finally got it to shoot but only wide open.
