thanks!

Those shots were possible because I was sitting very low; the cows reacted...they were very curious and walked straight towards me...

my wife was standing near the fence

it was quite entertaining.....something like the Cow Whisperer

Went down to a local bird sanctuary to give my Sigma 50-500 a good run through. Here are some shots. It really is a nice place and I have been wanting to go for years. All shot with the K3 and Bigma on a monopod. Cross posted from the Sigma Telephoto Zoom Club.

Well, the light house may be sharp as a tack but how would a viewer tell? What dominates the image is the brush in the foreground which, of course, is not in focus so the general impression is one of softness. So, yeah, get back up there, shoot at f7.1, focus on that rock in the center and see what happens.

Think of it this way: at that distance, you're not really taking a photo of the lighthouse, you're photographing a scene with--oh yeah--a lighthouse in the distance. If you want a photo of the light house, skip the climb and get closer to the lighthouse.
Hiked up there again. Nowhere near as nice a day for landscapes so I focused more macro shots of flowers (see K-50 pics thread or D FA lens thread). That said, tested out your suggestions. And yes I was an idiot. Much better resolution at f7.1 and f11 when you look at 100% crops. I;m just not as experienced with panoramic landscapes as other kinds of shooting and this just slipped my notice as I took the original pics. Now if we could ever get a bright sunny day again I'll hike up there and take those shots for real.

There was sun and blue sky in the western direction, just not as dramatic a panorama, and you can see the improvement using f10. I used the same oversaturated development technique with Silkypix V2 film.

THANKS.

Thankyou, it really is a nice place. $5.00 to get in for the whole day. I was not able to hike all the trails in one day. Here are a few more shots.

Another shot from Kellog Sanctuary. This is a captive eagle who can not fly so he is a permanent resident. Note the wires. Taken with 50-500.
