Sig 70-300

Like your image. Which of the few 70-300 is this? I've been looking at Tammys and Sigs of that range. I had a 28-200 DL Hyperzoom which I gave away. Thanks.

It is the vanilla i.e. not APO version Sigma. It cost all of $100 brand new and has served me well.

Sigma Zoom to 400/500

I am sure your knowledge and technique has a lot to do with it. Years ago I bought a 70-300(I think it was a DL Macro) Not much money. I was getting really good images. Unfortunately it fell on a concrete floor and that was the end of that.

I've been looking for long zoom to try my hand at birding. Very slim pickings out there. There is a Pentaxian a few pages back who use a 50-500 and posted some fine images. I will keep looking.

Sig 50-500 OS

Excellent shots Mike. I've been looking for a lens like yours. 120, 170,150 to 400 or 500 will do. Which of the 50 to 500 you have? There are 2 in Lens Review.
Found many in Canon mount. I have a 40D, an old model. I think I'd be better off using my K5lls, a much newer model. Thx.

I really like that photo, Racer. Can you tell us a little more about how you captured it?

Sure.

I set the camera to make a very long exposure, set the aperture all the way closed, prefocused, placed it on the
dash, took off driving about 25 mph or so, and made exposures every few seconds.

There are several more on my Flickr, click through and check them out.

still working out the kinks in this lens... I think I may have the infinity-focus figured out:

and there's definitely no issues with the close-focusing:

well, dunno what to say about my new (new to me) Sigma 85 HSM. seems lo contrast. hunting really bad in light where, all my other lenses does not. but focusing quite fast, little faster than my DA*55(if it finds focus). I will look at pictures closely and will try it in daylight tomorrow. I sold my samyang 85 because I did not like focusing it(MF), and it seems that in fluoricent lit room, I have to MF this one too........so far FA 77, 1-0 .
