Thanks Chip! It was a strange and beautiful Texas winter sunset.

Makes me think of my brother's 42 ft trimaran, and how much I enjoyed sailing with him.

A tower with K-1 and HD DA 55-300, I do not complain about vignetting ... it gives and old taste to the picture:

Paul, I see the bokeh is a bit fussy, just like my DA 55-300 ED. Nothing overly serious, and the lenses do work well. The only thing that made me upgrade to the ED version was Quick Shift. I was never dissatisfied with the L version I had, but boy did I ever miss QS!

Hi Albert - yes the bokeh is a bit busy in that shot, but the lens does better with closer subjects such as flowers, etc. I'm not a long-zoom shooter, and the lens doesn't get a lot of use. It's handy to bring along on vacation, as I did recently. QS is nice to have, but it's not a concern for me given the limited use of the lens.

Went to the Lewis Ginter Gardens in Richmond, Virginia with my family. A couple of shots with the K-3 and DA 55-300mm.

Little Lake.

Wildlife with the 55-300. All taken within a the distance of 15 minute bike ride from my front door (though not taken within 15 minutes!).

Herons

Osprey

Wood Ducks

Beaver

Spiny Soft-shell Turtle. These are an endangered species. The day I took these shots, I saw more of them in a single outing than I'd seen for a long time. There had been a lot of construction along that stetch of the river and I was wondering if that had scared them off or messed up their habitat in some way. Nice to see them back in such numbers.

Painted (?) turtles.
