Yikes!
I've been surprised a few times like that while fishing on a wharf in the past, looking the other way, minding my own business....
Still, you made the effort and got a nice result. Hopefully you still have a functioning camera. How do you clean the salt spray off your lens, btw?

K-5 II s still works fine , Had to Pull the Grip off the Bottom and clean off the resedue salt between the Grip and camera base , I've already distoyed one Battery Grip being dunk a few times too many and a Da18-135 Lens from Saltwater Long story.

I clean the camera body and Lens with a Damp cloth and then with a dry clean cloth and some Metho to wipe off any resedue of Salt on metal parts hopefully to stop all the screw and bits of Metal on the camera from Rusting away.in my kit I always also carry a Small Spray bottle of Windex glass cleaner ( don't laught ) and Microfibre Cloth to periodically clean off the salt water and seaspray off the Lee Filters as well. It's a Pain I know. few People Prefer the Blending technique in Photoshop but I don't posses the skills to Blend Multiple exposure into one So I have to use the Square Filters.

Cheers for the info. Not so good regarding the grip and the 18-135mm, but an occupational hazard and one worth taking IMO.

Not laughing at all about the windex - useful stuff! Interesting about the grads/square filters - I use a small "A" cokin set when shooting with the 15mm or 70mm and I've found just running them under the hot tap gets rid of the residue and makes for less rubbing with the microfibre cloth (I find the 3M ones great, btw). I'm on my fourth DSLR and have never had a problem with rusting screws, however am not close to the coast any more - the only salt I'll get on my gear is what they put on the roads.

Coast Guard Training at North Head

We stayed in Ilwaco, WA for a couple of days and while we were hiking around I heard a chopper. We went to the North Head lighthouse and saw a Coast Guard chopper practicing with a rescue swimmer. This is with the 18-135mm
