The lens is a joy to use for Motorsports due to is small size, especially when you see Canon and Nikon shooters lugging around their heavy lenses.
Those professional sports lenses might be far superior in image quality I am sure, but not needed for my limited abilities in any case.
Even though the lens is not the fastest for focusing, I think only for 1 out of 100 shots I actually missed the focus and had to wait for the next car or the next round.
For those types of panning shots (where you want to stop down anyhow, to achieve a slow enough shutter speed), it is the perfect lens!
Lovely Pics! I did a couple of Super GT panning shots in 2011 and 2012 at Sepang, Malaysia.

Which track did you shoot these pictures at?

And I hear ya about the 55-300

I'm seriously considering buying this lens (55-300), I have almost never used a focal length longer than 35mm, it's time to start! but I cannot decide between the old and the new HD version... some of you said they are optically identical, some said the new version is sharper. Personally I like the green ring more than the red one

I have used both of them, the HD is a clear winner to me.

The first 2 were from Super GT opening in Okayama this year, the others from a rainy race weekend at Fuji Speedway.
Thought I am finished with buying lenses, but will have to upgrade from Tamron 17-50 to DA 18-135 WR and from the "normal" 55-300 to the WR version... because IF I ever get the zooms out, it's because I am out and about and can't carry my primes... so I will have to go for WR again

*sigh*
LBA...

10x! Next year I'll go to Vienna again and try a different angle... it was so cold that night I couldn't stay so long.

Great shots from the 16-45. One of my very favorite lenses. The trees don't bother me in your cityscape. They balance off the left and right of the composition very nicely and they are very stately in the setting. Freddy

I agree Freddy, bridges and train stations often graffiti are our country. In this photo taken in an area inside the country, but now pretty countryside on the ancient Silk Road. By the way my name is Selman.
