My wife and I spent last weekend, in the Rio Grande Valley, birding in the southern tip of Texas, with my Pentax K-x. The lens I used for these photos was the Pentax 55-300mm, and a monopod. I also brought along the Sigma 150-500mm, but nothing beats the portability and ease of handling of the Pentax 55-300mm kit lens, and the image quality is very good. Usually, the Rio Grande valley is very mild in the winter. The best photos were taken on Sunday morning at the South Padre Island Nature center on the one mostly clear morning we had.
This set of photos were taken at the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center. Some of these photos are heavily cropped, and then resized to 1200x800, and others were not cropped, most of these photos are taken at 300mm, stopped down to F/8.
