I took my DA L 55-300 to Tanzania recently. I have nicer lenses now but I wanted something with a long reach but that is also light and not too valuable in case it gets stolen or broken.
It did pretty well most of the time with a little bit of frustrating focus hunting but I figured out how to work around that for the most part. Definitely does well for the price!

Late summer afternoon at the creek. Not the best time of day for photography, but I took my chances - DA18-55 on K10D:

In Sydney this past May I met up with a fellow Forum member. I no longer have any sort of kit lens in good working order, so I borrowed his DA 18-135. I'm just getting to some of the images now. I liked the range for spending a day in the harbour, but not being used to the lens I probably didn't make the best use of it. Not certain if it is worth buying, but I find myself traveling more and really need a solid zoom that's not too heavy or too valuable to risk losing.

Nice shots. So are you back in the Pentax fold?

Lots of people here are excited about the DA 16-85mm and say it's pretty much unbeatable for walkaround.

I never left, but a series of personal and health matters over the past few years impacted my desire to take photographs. At the same time I did take two long trips and am hopelessly behind processing shots going back to 2015! Now that I am back behind the lens more I'm going to have to lock myself to the computer for a week just to catch up.

Thanks for the tip on the DA 16-85. I've been out of touch with respect to gear too!

Ah, I thought you had left Pentax for Nikon a while back.

I am glad to see you around and I hope things are looking up for you

The DA 16-45mm is usually on family pictures duty, but sometimes I get it to do closeups, as it works quite well for that...
