I'm the race photographer for an ultra endurance running race near a neighboring town that was held on Saturday. The race is kind of mind boggling at 50 Miles and about 12,000' of elevation gain.
To do the shoot I had to backpack into a wilderness area which was 5 Miles and just under 4000' of climbing which was plenty difficult for me! After spending the night I got up at 5 to intercept the runners on this high ridge as the sun came up. With all the hiking I wanted to travel light so I brought two crop bodies, my trusty old K-3 and my newer K-3iii. I have bigger/nicer optics but I brought the recently acquired 55-300 PLM to save myself some weight to carry up there since I needed all my camping and survival gear too.
The lens performed well and I like what I got with it. I'm still processing and IDing runners so we can make nice metal prints to give as prizes for the top three men and women.
This guy was in the lead here but ended up third overall.
