Coming at the topic from an odd angle here. I got a Kollmorgen Snaplite 5.25in, a movie theater projection lens from the 1950's or '60's, manufactured in Northampton, Massachusetts. My copy came from a retired drive-in movie theater. Once you come up with your own camera mount and focus mechanism, it's a pretty cheap 135mm f/2 lens.
Most any 135mm lens actually made for photography in the past half century will be technically superior, but projector lenses are an affordable way to experience otherwise obsolete lens formulas.
