Flowers from our garden

Flowers with K-1 and the Zeiss 135mm Sonnar f 2.0. This lens is like the 77mm Ltd; just point at something and snap and you get a good photo, lots of keepers.

Looks like a keeper! I really enjoy my much older f/3.5 Sonnar, although it's not all all in the same league as your lens. At least the price reflects this.

Beautiful contrast between rough and smooth textures here. Really well framed.

Possibly the best portrait shot I've achieved with the Tamron Twin Tele 135 preset as well as some others from a recent outing.

Coming at the topic from an odd angle here. I got a Kollmorgen Snaplite 5.25in, a movie theater projection lens from the 1950's or '60's, manufactured in Northampton, Massachusetts. My copy came from a retired drive-in movie theater. Once you come up with your own camera mount and focus mechanism, it's a pretty cheap 135mm f/2 lens.

Most any 135mm lens actually made for photography in the past half century will be technically superior, but projector lenses are an affordable way to experience otherwise obsolete lens formulas.

I took the Kollmorgen Snaplite 5.25in f/2 out again this morning. I forgot to mention in my last post about it, it's a Petzval type: just a pair of achromatic doublets. It's bulky but very light, since there's not much glass. It's the one on the left, in this brochure from 1949.

Here's a sweet subject for you. "f1.7" on K3III. Does anyone know why my bodies record f1.7 when the lens only opens to f1.8?
