Image made with a Quantaray 135mm 2.8 - pretty good for $10....
The focus ring has a little play to it, but the glass is spotless.

1/80 sec
ISO 200
f/2.8

Almost what I had envisioned for this picture...that right eye is kinda bugging me, but there is potential here.

Finally got hold of a copy of the Tamron adaptall 2 135mm f2.5. They can't have sold that many of it judging from how few you see for sale. If I just get hold of the next couple of deadlines at work I'll post pictures of it and by it.

If you haven't already tried it, the A*135 does very well with some extension tube if you want to get closer to those flowers.

Thanks, Douglas--I did want to get a bit closer but, until I get my hands on some auto aperture tubes, I'll just shoot bigger subjects.

Just when I thought my kit was complete (K-r & K100D; DA 18-55, DA 50-200, A 50 f1.7, A 28 f2.8, Tamron DI LD 70-300, Takumar 135mm f2.5) and no further upgrade required, I have just today acquired an SMC Pentax 135mm f3.5.

I am not sure which one I should keep: Takumar 135mm f2.5 or SMC Pentax 135mm f3.5 (Links go to lens reviews)

I will try to compare them outdoor over the weekend. I was wondering if anyone has done that already (could find side by side comparison online), and if there are significant flare issues. I was happy with my non-SMC Takumar until I have got the SMC Pentax. Have not really notice flare with the built in hood and a Hoya polarizer. Any insight?

The SMC Pentax 135/3.5 is definitely better than the Takumar 135/f2.5 bayonet version. If you want a good and "affordable" 135/2.5 go for the Super Takumar 135/f2.5 M42 version. I personally prefer the SMC K135/2.5 but it's harder to find and also much more expensive.
