Makes me long for my tullips to come up, but there are just leafes yet. The colors comes out very nicely here. Are the colors straight out of the camera?

Douglas, haven't you been spotted sporting a A135/1.8? Are you holding out on the good stuff or just building the suspense?

Great portrait, love it!

You probably have a point there, but there are many KA 135mm lenses and they don't seam that popular either. Besides, I think it can be overcome with training. I just keep my thumb on the gren botton all the time when I shoot with K lenses and just press it the moment before I focus, in one swift motion.

I'd like to encourage everyone to check if the lenses they post here are in the lens reviews. If they are not there, plese add them and a review, and if they are there already, make a review. I'll try to do the same for my 135mm's.

I like 135mm a lot. I think it's a great focal length for portraits.

My favorite would be a Jupiter 11A 135mm f/4, but the copy I have is rather busted and a pain to focus - I think the package was dropped, because its hood was stuck on it in reverse - I had to bang it pretty hard to take it off. Still works, but it takes a lot of effort - I managed to unscrew an adapter from the mount while fighting the focus ring!

Here's how it looked after I finally managed to separate the main body of the hood from its screw ring, the latter being hopelessly affixed to the filter thread now - that's what happens when military grade materials are used

I had the opportunity to see an FA 135 in action and that is one sharp lens.

I "spotted" a Pentax 135 f1.8 on Ebay. But you probably know about that nearly $3000 'Buy-It-Now' listing. Just about double what could be asked for a Mint, Like New, perfect example of the lens. Another one to watch for is the U.S.A. built for the military "VARO" brand f1.4 or f1.8 135 mm m42 mount. I have seen it listed with its matching 1.4X, 2X, 3X teleconverters. These were built many years ago for use with an eyepiece as part of a spotting scope. Later they were part of our first night scopes. That is according to what information I have been able to find about the company and the scopes they built. These have become quite expensive with the advent of so many DSLR bodies that have infinity focusing M42 mount adapters. Last set I saw on Ebay sold for right at $1,000. The first set I saw on Ebay in 1999 sold for $15 plus shipping. Yes I was bidding on it and on the last day was less than a minute late in signing on before the end of the auction. I did not know just what it was I was bidding on and I didn't try to hard. WOW do I regret that mistake.

Well, I've seen a A*135/1.8 go for just above 2000Euros, and it was not mint. I suppose its about your 3000USD. It went for this after an open bidding.
Myself, I payed 3500 Swedish crowns second hand. Today that would be about 380 Euros or some 500USD, whatever it was back in 1992 I don't know. It was certainly worth that price. Give me a time machine and I would go back and buy more A lenses.

I wish Pentax would make a DFA135/2.8 version of this lens. Probably they don't dare due to all full frame rumors that would start (), with people holding back from buying DA lenses... Or they may be afraid it would cut back the salesnumbers of the DA*50-135.
But they could so easilly give us this as an equivalent of a fast 200mm.
Then I'd like to see a DA90/2 ltd as an APS-C equivalent of a fast 135mm, based on the old M85/2 optics, a design so compact that it is a good start to make a lens that would fit into the compact DA (pancake) limited line.
But now I'm deviating from the topic of my own thread, sorry

Thanks, Douglas! the FA's a compact and inconspicuous which enables me to shoot discretely. I should say it's sharper than those samples might suggest (due to operator error.) The build may leave something to be desired (seems pretty durable though) but the rendering is right up there with my limiteds, I think.
