My old MK2 Pineapple:

DAMN! That shot is amazing. Perfect mix IMO. Sharpness, color, and bokeh are all incredible! Crop it a bit so its more centered and take out what appears to be a dust spot and your good to go. Worthy of hanging on my wall!

I've never had a want for a lens in this focal length until now. Dang, and I just bought a K-7 and am searching after the FA 50mm F/1.7 and F 28mm F/2.8

Got my M135/3.5 for $25 on Ebay (I think it was mislabeled).

It's small enough that I can carry it around in my small camera bag, on the off-chance I need a longer lens than my everyday walkabout DA40.

This one is of Bryce Canyon in the winter, around sunset.

I wish Pentax would make a DFA135/2.8 version of this lens.
I was thinking the same thing. Then I realized there are still a lot of FA135mm available for around $600 and a new lens would probably cost more than that. How much market would there be for it, especially considering all the other choices available in this focal length on ebay? Not much, I think. So, we're probably not going to see one soon.

there are 2 copies of the FA135 available right now at KEH for $465 and $485 respectively. now let's see who are the first ones to secure both. the first ones that blinks, loses. goodluck !

if ever I don't see those lenses again after a week, it could mean that those buyers either needed those lenses pretty badly or they have a bad case of LBA.

That's very nice - it's the sort of shot where I would trust my M135 more than the 50-200, say.

Thanks for starting this topic, Douglas.

The 135mm focal length is really nice for outdoor portraits on APS-C (I also like shooting 200mm for this purpose, when the surroundings permit use of such a long lens).

The 135mm lenses I have owned which qualify are the K135, M135, and A*135. Of these, the only one still in my possession is the latter.

Anyways, I plan to post back to this thread later with some new photos taken with the A*135 (a review with some previously taken photos can be found by looking at my profile).

Thanks a lot, I´´m glad you like it.
The F (or FA) 135 is a great lens. I like it the more on my K7 than on my K20D. The better AF of the K7 speeds it up to perfect performance. Shot yesterday with a Canon 70-200 f2.8. Nice lens but what a weight!!
I love my Pentax lenses!

I wonder how the A* 135mm F1.8 compares to the Voigtländer 125mm F2.5.
I have the K 135mm F2.5 which is a wonderful lens.
I love 135mm for candid portraits.

Kind regards

I have a much larger Meyer-Optik Gorlitz 400 mm F5.5 lens. My photos with it have always been excellent. For a 400 mm lens it has amazing FOV and DOF. I will have to find my photos and post them.
