Originally posted by hinman Douglas, all the hard work in our transaction seems to pay off. I am so delighted to see my lens in good use by my friend. I will miss it for sure. The lens works well for me also on bugs as I recall a greater minimum focusing distance. And its bokeh is quite unique and nice.
I suspect that the lens may work well in film camera as the old K mount don't require the extra step into stop-down metering. I like all of my past M/K lenses on the pentax film bodies.

Thanks Hin!
I'm very hapy with the lens so far. Besides having too few bugs this time of the year (which I can't blame Vivitar for), my only complain is the lens cap. It only took 2-3 days until it fell off and hit a rough enough floor to leave a mark on its edge. A pity since both lens and cap was in near perfect conditions. But it isn't the first time I've had that problem with Vivitar lens caps. It's a simple construction kept in place only by friction. I bet that while Komine built the lens, Vivitar got the cap from some other source. The lens itself is built like a tank.
It looks like it has a very pleasing bokeh. Also appears to be quite flare resistant. The first water drop is taken almost straight into the sun, wide open with no lens hood. Need to get a hood though. While I haven't managed to provoce any flare yet, contrast goes down in that sort of conditions. Otherwise it is fairly sharp already at f2.8, even though it, as all lenses, sharpen up more if I close down ~2 steps. What lens hood did you use?
