Took a trip to the zoo the other day. I find that the 135/2.5 bayonet is the perfect zoo lens. While the results aren't perfect, I couldn't be happier considering I picked up this lens for a whopping $33 off ebay.

Makinon 135mm lens

Have any of you 135mm lens buffs ever shot a Makinon 135mm lens? I got this item in a lot buy and I've never tried it out. Just curious about it and it's capabilities. I know I could read about it in the reviews, but I'd rather hear it from someone I'm a little familiar with. Most of the reviewers are complete strangers to me and for the most part, the only post they've ever left on PF was to review a lens.

If you're curious, why not--you know--take some photos with it? I'd be interested in what you think of the results.

Interesting found on eBay today. I've never heard about this lens, but it's surely one of the fastest 135mm lenses I've ever seen.

Looks like a nice 135, but a little out of my LBA budget range!

Wide open at the minimum focus distance the DOF is about 2mm!

This one would be more interesting.

Porst 135mm F 1 8 Auto Tele MC M42 Screw Mount Fast Portrait Telephoto Lens | eBay

But I'm discouraged by the strange description: "Lens working but looks little dirty inside. May need cleaning. Lens has a lot of small dots inside."
Hmmmmm

But I really regret that I missed this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KOMURA-2-135-135mm-F2-SANKYO-KOHKI-M42-M-42-ADAPTA...p2047675.l2557

I only found it late night on eBay and decided to go to bed and order in the morning. Well, in the morning it was sold. Then the seller wrote me that the lens was for sale for about 2 years. Bad luck is weak word.

There are some other not so expensive and seemingly in better condition 135mm f1.8 lenses on Ebay right now.

Rokunar:
Auto ROKUNAR LENS 1:1.8 f=135mm F:1.8/135mm SPEED LENS FAST GLASS T2 NIKON MOUNT

Weltblick
Weltblick 135mm F 1 8 M42 Gorgeous Ultra Fast bokeh Monster Manual Lens Test Pic | eBay

Spiratone:
Spiratone 135mm F1 8 Telephoto YS Manual Focus Lens for Minolta MD Beautiful | eBay

I have the old Sigma (Sigmatel), which is the same exact as the Sigma XQ line 135mm f1.8 lens.
It is huge and heavy and very well made. It produces some pretty nice pictures as well. It just doesn't get used hardly at all. doubt I will ever get rid of it.

First and third one are neither K nor M42/M39 and I have no idea if some adapter would be available.

The Weltblick lens looks good, seems like rebranded Porst which I linked above?
However, it has 8 aperture blades, while the beautiful Komura would have 16 (?) so the bokeh would probably be more nice.

First one is T2, which a K adapter is like $10. It is the same size as M42, but different thread pitch.

The Third one is YS, which is a fancy T2 mount that was available for a short while. It would let different systems use a specific YS adapter to be able to do aperture control. You can use a regular T2 adapter on it.

Time Marches On . . .

Here's my collection of 135's from circa 2000 or so. [A* 135/1.8, VS1 135/2.3, K 135/2.5, Takumar Bayonet 135/"2.5", K 135/3.5]

Interestingly (to me, anyhoo), I still have only two of 'em - the VS1 135/2.3 and the K 135/2.5. However, I do now have one additional 135 - the Vivitar 135/2.8 Close Focusing - and I have to say that all three of these EXCELLENT 135's are likely to stay around here another decade-and-a-half (assuming that ~I~ can stay around here another decade-and-a-half ).

Wow! You had A*135 and sold it (?).

Since some time I try to find VS1 f2.3 (possibly in PK) on eBay, but no luck so far.
