My new (old) A*135

I’ve been stalking these A*135mm lens on eBay for many months, and finally succumbed.

Lousy weather outside, so first shots are fake flowers, indoors. I’m pretty damn happy.

Is there a comparison somewhere between the A*135 and, say, the K135/2.5?

I love my K135, too! That’s why I was so hesitant to upgrade.

The flower shot was Portra NC film. The boy on my K1.

My manual focusing is a little better on this K135 shot. It’s a great lens!

Here is my apples-to-apples (flowers-to-flowers) comparison between the A*135 @ 2.4 and K135 @ 2.5
1/90. 800 ISO.
Shot on my K1 at minimum focus distance.
Light source - late afternoon daylight and tungsten lamp
White balance setting - Daylight
Custom image setting - Reversal film
Only PP is cropping.

The A*135 has a shorter minimum focusing distance.
Notice the difference in the coffee cup/bokeh.

That K135 stacks up pretty nicely to the spendy A*135.

I just received a mint-looking K135/2.5, having sold my previous copy before the K-1 was released.
Looking forward to getting some images up here soon

First test with the K135/2.5 wide open, hand held and focussed through the viewfinder with the help of the O-ME53. Seems sharp enough.
Monochrome because of some weird green tinges where none should be (like Sammy's cheek). Have others noticed this with this lens?

I think it will be very nice for B&W portraits.

Love your dog! Yes I've noticed green CA here and there, which are sometimes hard to remove. Luckily, those images like this one are usually amenable to B/W conversion if removal proves too difficult or impossible.

So is that partially why so many people like B&W with older lenses?
