There is no need for special support because all (non-TTL) radio triggers just use the standard centre hot-shoe triggering contact.

Unfortunately, there are some flashes (many of them listed as unsupported at the Cactus website) that require TTL communication with the camera before they enable the centre hot-shoe triggering contact.

It seems that at least some copies of the Sigma EF-610 DG Super have this stupid limitation.

If you can fire the flash from a camera that it is not dedicated to (e.g., put your Pentax dedicated Sigma flash on a Canon) and it fires, you are good. It will then fire with any radio trigger as well.

Of interest to all V5 users: Cactus are working on a flash with a built-in radio receiver. A new V5 successor (V6) will be able to remote control the power of that flash. One will still be able to use a V5 (and hence LV5) to trigger the flash.

Can't wait to check this out; will hopefully be available by the end of 2013.

There is a report about the Cactus flash essentially having a commander mode allowing it to control other flashes without an additional transmitter. However, that may just be a rumour; there is no official confirmation.

Seems like the V6 release is not too far away.

I sometimes had inconsistent operation of the v5's when i tried to use them on Lithium rechargeable batteries. Now i never use anything but alkaline batteries and the V5's are solid in their operation. I attribute this to the lower voltage of the rechargeables. Anyway, something to consider.

I use the V5 with Sanyo Eneloops and never had a problem.

These also have lower voltage than Alkalines, but certainly whatever they provide is sufficient for the V5.

I've tried those as well. I can't say for sure that was the problem, but when i switched to using alkalines - the problems just went away. I currently have 3 left of these and one of them has a dodgy battery tray that doesn't want to stay locked in. Pentax workmanship, they are not. Part of my problems are that i don't use them for up to 2 months at a time.

The thing i like best about them, is the AAA battery size. Available anywhere and not near as expensive as the specialized sizes. One thing some folks may not realize, is that one doesn't need a remote receiver for each flash. I used two flashes together to do a group shot a week ago. Using the Yongnuo manual flashes, i set one to Manual to trigger from the radio remote, and then the second to S1 to trigger off the key flash. Worked flawlessly. It is satisfying to use them enough to get some confidence with them.
