I have had it since 7 April - i.e. about for three weeks by now. All I can say (I am NOT an expert on flashes) is that it delivers what it promises according to the manual and the build quality is very convincing. This is my first "advanced" flash ever and all in all I am pleased!

I suppose quite a few would recommend the 50 AF-1 over the 44 AF-1 due to its additional features such as high speed syncronization. One will have to do one's own assessment of size, weight, features, prices (: no really significant difference here) to make the choice.
